Alon Audio Extractor is a free little tool that selects the soundtrack of almost any video file and saves it as an MP3, WAV, or AC3 audio-only file. It supports a selection of the best known and most widely used video codecs, such as Flash (FLV), AVI, MPEG, WMV, 3GP, and more.
It comes wrapped up in a flashy interface with a silvery sci-fi look that will surely grab your attention. Despite its high-tech looks, it is in fact a really easy-to-use kind of tool. Ripping audio from any of your video files could not be simpler, and all you need to do is select as many files as you wish (regardless of their format, as long as it is on the list of supported codecs), select the output format and folder, and push the right button.
Alon Audio Extractor produces great-quality MP3, WAV, and AC3 audio files. Each of them supports basic levels of customization (bit rate, sample rate, and number of channels – i.e., mono or stereo). And that is basically it! However, it includes a nice extra – “clip creation tool”, or, if you prefer, a video clipping or trimming tool. Thus, you can select to extract the audio of just a specific part of a certain video file (i.e., your favorite tracks out of a long live recording) or to split a one-file video into shorter audio tracks.
Surprisingly, this neat tool will not extract the audio from DVD videos, neither the full film nor any of the VOB files, despite of the fact that they are actually MPEG files!
